Dear Valued Members,

Well back to Planet Earth after a very enlightening, exciting and exhausting 3 days at the IISA Sun City Conference. The theme of this year’s Conference was Risky Business, highlighting that the short term insurance industry finds itself in a good position to take advantage of growth opportunities in the African Continent, while also positioned in a world that is riskier and more volatile than ever.

David Harpur, CEO of the Insurance Institute of South Africa, stressed the importance of skills development and the attainment of a recognised designation. He encourages more people to study towards their Licentiate, Associate & Fellow in order to promote professionalism in the industry. During the Gala Awards Function, students were recognised for their hard work in obtaining the top marks in the Country and were awarded some fantastic monetary prizes. So this is incentive enough for you to hit the books and hopefully we will see some of our members up on the stage next year.

Locally we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate David Brauteseth (Compendium Insurance Brokers and President of the DII) and Sean Jones (Hollard) for obtaining their Associate and Fellow respectively.

Please take note that the IIKZN Awards Luncheon will be held on 09/10/2015, where the top KZN students of 2014 for UNISA and Milpark will be presented with their awards. Look out for the booking form of our next workshop....Introduction to Insurance : Personal & Commercial. This workshop is scheduled for Friday 28/08/2015 at the Riverside Hotel, Durban.

Until next month.....stay safe and our best wishes go with you always

UNDER 35'S Nibble & Network

Once again, the Hollard U35's N&N function was a resounding success. With over 70 delegates attending, the venue was packed.

Hollard put on a spread that couldn't be resisted, from food platters, to the Hollard cocktails, to the sweet buffet, and most importantly, the karaoke juke box!
Our guest speaker, Emma Sadlier, left our quests with jaw dropping food for thought on Social Media Law.

Hollard definitely played out of their boots with this event, and our sincere thanks goes to them for their continued support on yet another successful IIKZN event.

A look back on the Insurance Conference 2015.

NOTE A number of members have advised that they are not receiving the newsletter. After some investigating we have established that the main reasons for not receiving the e-mails are as follows:

  • Spam filter - This would be due to the email appearing in the users junk mail.
  • Block list - Often if people receive marketing mailers, they may opt to unsubscribe, if they do this, they are automatically added to a "Block list". As long as an email appears in the list, no matter how many times it is added to the distribution list, it will not send to the recipient.
Please check to see that the e-mails are not in either the Spam Filter or Block List.
